babygrows and cupcakes

On Saturday I held a baby shower for my friend who is expecting. I know baby showers are tradationally American, but because I feel American at heart I thought why the hell not? They're such a lovely event to plan and attend, and getting the family and friends all together was extra special. I arrived home to my parents late on the Friday and spent all night in the kitchen - freshly baked scones and cupcakes were the result! I spent the day shopping for cute table decorations and things to make the day super pretty. My friend was delighted and the day went so well, it was hard-hitting for her, though; I think it really made everything more real. 14 days to go, and counting until we all (hopefully) get to meet her little girl. I am definitely god mummy in the making, I am soooo excited and to see her in the lovely outfits I got her is even more exciting. I just wish I was at home for the birth and the first few days of the little one's life... but I am just a train ride away which is good.

I thought I would share with you some photographs from the day...

What do you think? have you ever thrown/had a baby shower?
