It starts with the base // Dermalogica HydraBlur Primer
I must confess I am not usually one to get too excited by primers, however the new Dermalogica HydraBlur Primer* blew all prior reservations out of the water. I don't know why I wasn't expecting this to change my routine because I genuinely love and get on with many Dermalogica products, but I've been caught off guard and am really impressed with this one...Also, how cute is the bag it came in? I'm in love!
I'd say the texture is quite thick, but it is incredibly creamy and melts into the skin seamlessly. The dry down is almost instant, providing me with a silky-smooth base for make-up. My skin really does feel super soft when using this, even after foundation has been applied. I wouldn't say it's completely mattifying (the skin remains radiant, which is a great thing for me) but it does have that more velvet finish. What's different to those horrible silicone primers though, is that is feels incredibly hydrating, offering the intense moisturisation you'd get from a moisturiser. Although I don't really have enlarged pores or fine lines, the primer definitely blurs my imperfections - which in tandem evens out my skin tone. Overall, it's a winner for me. The only downside is the price; at £38 it's not the cheapest primer on the market - and not something I would use every single day -, but for something with skincare and priming benefits in one, it's a a really nice product to have in your collection.
